What do you play, what music do you play with it, and how long have you been playing it?

I bought this today, my fourth guitar:

I also have a Flying V, a Mockingbird, and a Cort X-2. I've found that I am starting to play more baritone / classical stuff, thus the introduction of the additional octave on the contemporary guitar. I am looking forward to this axe; it's my present to myself this year.

Your turn!

I've been playing piano for about 5 years and guitar for a few months.

On piano I like to play blues, ragtime, and videogame themes...yes, videogame themes, like Mario and Sonic songs, lol. I also enjoy playing rock-piano, like Billy Joel. And I improvise a lot. ;)

On guitar I play mostly classic rock and blues. Some of my favorite guitarists are John Mayer, Eric Clapton, and Derek Trucks, so I want to be able to play like them.

I just recently bought a Fender Strat, and I have GuitarPort, which lets me virtually use any amp model I want. I can actually just type in a song and load the exact set-up the guitarist used.

Ah yes, Line 6. I heard of that; it's a very nice piece of software. I may even look into getting it myself.

I love playing videogame themes. I'm currently learning the Super Mario theme, which sounds pretty fun when I add a couple of harmonic effects in to simulate coins and the like. There's a really good video of someone covering it on YouTube, actually.

I know what you're talking about. He makes all the coin sounds by raking or something.

I have been playing piano for the past 8 years. I enjoy it, but stopped piano lessons as I prefer more of the rock type music such as Supertramp and YES.
I have played a few instruments in concert band, including Trombone, Bass Trombone, Euphonium and Tuba. They are really neat instruments, wish I could afford them :p
I'm slowly working on learning guitar, it's coming to me, mostly simple rock songs and stuff (Sweet Child O' Mine...)
Oh, don't forget Guitar Hero!! :D

I forgot to mention I play electric piano and rock organ (I wish I had a hammond b3) too. So I play some YES and The Doors.

And how did I forget Guitar Hero. I have GH3 for Wii and I play on Expert. I haven't beaten expert though...I'm not that good yet. My favorite song is The Metal by Tenacious D, lol.

lol, Tenacious D is sweet!
I just have GH2 for PS2, I might get a Wii soon to play Mario Galaxies, Twilight Princess and GH3. :)

I am part of a group of people famously called complete untalented in every way, shape, manner and/or form.

Guitar Hero is the closest thing i'll ever come to making good music :D

I didn't know the Spice Girls had a member who was into politics...

The seller told me that it will take three weeks for my guitar to arrive. I really wanted it by Christmas, but it looks like that isn't happening.

I've been playing the guitar since I was green and trumpet since primary. I've been invited to join some bands and have played with some friends in Leyton and Westminster at clubs and the like.

Some of my inspirations include: Clapton, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, and BB King for guitar. (I'm into Delta Blues) Louis Armonstrong, Billy Chase, and Loughnane made me take up the trumpet.

I own a Fender Concord acoustic, a Fender Delux Strat electic, and a HS F-301 electric.

My trumpet is a Yamaha.. something..

Well so far I have to say people here have some good taste in music.

I don't think many hipsters are into politics to much :p Let's see if I'm proven wrong.

Maybe the political moguls here could lobby to have Zeppelin be forced to tour.

They've already got a date confirmed in Tennessee somewhere, hopefully if the concert goes well today(how could it not?) they'll start a world tour.

I play bass, but the only musical equipment I actually own is a patch cord.

That's just a fancy word for stolen from Horus and you know it!

Some bloke bought a ticket for the Zep concert off of Ebay for like 80 grand. Life savings for a concert ticket - would you?

Right! :D

I wouldn't pay 80 grand to see anyone in a concert. I'd pay 80 grand on a house or a car, but not to see one rock group (no matter how legendary they are). It's an excessive price, and heavily overvalues the hype sorrounding the gig.

He better be playing on stage with them for that price lol.

Wow, that's almost as close as someone buying the Sun (the one in the sky) on the eBay.

I doubt even Icarus could get tickets to a Zeppelin reunion.

A music thread!!
I play advanced oboe, and grade 10 RCM piano. (The top level before ARCT)
I also own a viola, a trombone, and a guitar, but I'm not good enough at any of them to actually say I 'play' them. I also took a year of drums, and I sing in a choir.

As for concert tickets, I think they are far too expensive, so I'm boycotting concerts all together. (Except Josh Groban...he's my favourite singer, so I had to go to that one. :) )

Boycotting.. concerts.. you must have never been to a Rush, Van Halen, Yes, Steve Miller, or any other real band's concert.

Mitch

You know, the real bands versus those fictional, non-existent bands right?
I went to see Rush, but there hasn't been any other bands I really wanted to see.

I thought the same thing until my aunt bought me Van Halen tickets.

Van Halen with David Lee Roth is a fucking show.

Of course, "real bands" must assign themselves significant monetary value, neh?

Supply and demand is simple enough even for heroin addicts.

Locke

High demand can't always be equated with talent.

Coll

But it does affect ticket prices, which was the point of the analogy.
