By February 2009 it will be required for all analog TVs to get a converter box (if they don't have cable) in order to receive over the air broadcasts. This is fine as long as there is power. What is going to happen in a natural disaster in which the power goes off? Are there going to be battery operated converters? Will new battery TV's have these? Coming from a state where hurricanes are often, sometimes the only way you have to find out what's going on is with a portable TV that runs off batteries. How will this work once the new system goes into effect? Or did anyone bother to think about this?

Indeed. I can't imagine the horrors and tribulations were Americans (in the continental sense) to be deprived of television for any length of time.

They might actually think for a few minutes (Cue shock and horror).

That's sadly true.
