California's Supreme Court on Thursday overturned a state ban on gay marriage, making it only the second U.S. state to allow same-sex weddings.

I think this a great step for the US, as California is usually a state that helps change opinions in other states and encourage them to do the same.
However, I don't know that most states are ready for this, it may be disastrous in some other states if same-sex marriage is legalized. Hopefully people will smarten up.

Think it will be more interesting when a state passes a law legalising marriage with robots which is predicted to be on the agenda in about 2050. .

You're exactly right. I live in the south where there is sharp opposition to same sex marriage. A few years ago it was put to a vote in Tennessee, and was overwhelmingly opposed. Personally I don't think the government should recognize gay marriage or heterosexual marriage. It is no business of Washington's who I let sleep in my bed regardless of whether it's a man or a woman.
