This has been in the headlines for about a week now. Thousands (predicted to be millions at this rate) of people in Burma have died as a result of the cyclone and Burma's Military Junta's inaction.
Aid agencies have been trickling in at a very slow rate and with very heavy restrictions. Food and other human needs are very minimal, at only 20% of the required amount, estimates the UN World Food Program.
Canada and other western countries really needs to smarten up, scoring political points won't help Burma in any way. Get the aid going, give it to the Red Cross or Thailand, they're the only one's that can do anything helpful at the moment.
If you want to make a donation, I personally suggest:
The Canadian Red Cross (http://www.redcross.ca/) (Red Cross)
UNICEF (http://www.unicef.com)
