Here's one factor that is assisting in the decline of food stock and rise in prices... the increase of the middle class.
With the incredible growth of China and other countries, the middle class is increasing and therefore more and more people are affording meat and increasing demand.
It takes much more grain to make a steak than to simply feed person. Almost, if not more, 5 times.
Also, with the increased need of grain, more land is used to grow the grain and keep the cattle (and other animals).
People should decrease their consumption of meats and food in general.
The days of cheap food are ending, get used to it. (Sorry, MacDonald's)
