Year after year we hear these words, they have become platitudes - between corporate special interests and unsavory/shadowy private donors - politicians are bought and paid for during the election process... and are then beholden to their benefactors once they begin their term in office...

When will we force this issue to be taken as seriously as it should be... its time to end the corruption and rebuild the system.

A campaign finance reform probably wouldn't happen without said shadowy private sponsors sending out death squads.

You mean a series of "car accidents" will happen?

Or perhaps "heart attacks".
Nevermind that post, it was more humoristic than serious.

Well, many of the founders predicted the corporations could ruin the Republic. They had remarkable foresight and wisdom in many ways but they could never have predicted the way the worm has turned in the U.S.

If it is not crime syndicates funneling money through busboys (google hilary+chinese+donors+chinatown) or other ways of bypassing the "laws", corporations and criminals own our government lock stock and barrel.

You have one party with two names, they may be slightly different on the surface but they both have the same rotten core. You know they say, one rotten apple spoils the bunch, well we've got a couple thousand rotten apples, not even counting their sycophantic counterparts in the media.
