Well, the motion to extend the mission in Afghanistan is set to go through a vote today and is expected to pass because the Liberals seem afraid to have an election.
If you don't already know, this motion will extend the mission in Afghanistan until December 2011, dedicate 1000 more troops and some other stuff.

man i dont get this! if you went there to help the people in afghanistan then it shouldn't matter how many soldiers you are sending there. To me the "withdraw deadlines" and the number of soldiers that you deploy is B.S
send as many soldiers as needed to get the job done! simple as that

People complain about lives lost.
Eighty-three Canadians or some-such? In WW1 the figure was at least a few hundred thousand. The people of the west have lost their courage, it seems.

yea
otherwise with the number of countries taking part in the afghan mission, it should take just a year or two to go through the entire country...house to house and get the terrorists out of there but sadly..its not just canada..the rest of the NATO countries are also stuck in debates on whether they should send more troops, withdraw or if they made the right decision by going there in the first place!

Courage for what? Pusillanimity is warranted when concerning lives. Present me evidence that the occupation has produced tangible change for the better.

well this is not the time to debate this kind of stuff anymore. If nothing good has come out of the war in afghanistan yet..then find the problem and fix it! withdrawing is not a solution after all the destruction and chaos!

If it hasn't, then perhaps we should be pointing the finger at the way our governments run things as a whole. Withdrawing isn't going to solve any problems, however neither will sticking with the status-quo. We went there for the wrong reasons, and now we're half-assing it to boot.
