Well, Client #9 is stepping down from his post as governor of New York. I'm sure everyone has heard by now that Elliot Spitzer was involved in a Prostitution Ring, but the thing that really got him was his hypocrisy.
When he was Attorney General, he helped shut down a bunch of these Prostitution Rings and didn't like the people involved in them, and now he is/was involved in one:frust:
I can see why the people of New York want to get rid of him, but I don't think that a threat of impeachment was necessary, or even him stepping down. There is tons more corruption in other aspects of the government than a guy having illegal sex, he was a great guy before this completely tarnished his reputation.
Oh well.

More dogmatic puritanism from the american public. I believe it is an entirely private affair, which should only be between him and his family.
By the way, a comment from the alleged escort's mother: "She's a very bright girl, enough to handle a man like him." Although indubitably referring to her intelligence (a virtue which may only be obvservable to the mother herself), the choice of terminology is astounding in this situation.

1. This is a case of Patriot Act abuse. Police / FBI can eavesdrop and learn about private affairs of citizens for no good reasons. Abuse of power, and this power should not be granted.
2. Why can't people get over the fact that this is what politicians do? They sleep around with young girls and boys. They take drugs and party hard. Why are there so many high end escort services in Washington D.C.?
3. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Applied to Spitzer also.

4. Kind of tricky. Yes, hiring a prostitute(s) and having an affair(s) is his private business. However, he was going after prostitution rings in the past; he was sending people to jail. But now, we find that he was essentially very supportive of prostitution. There needs to be some accountability.

Yes, but it should not be a matter of resignation.

I don't think Spitzer would have resigned if there wasn't a threat of impeachment by the republicans, I think it was just a scheme by them to get him out. But the new governor seems like a cool guy :)

David A. Paterson became New York’s 55th Governor on March 17, 2008. In his first address as Governor, Paterson spoke about the challenges New York faces and his plan for New York’s future.
