This was briefly touched on in the Currently Listening thread, so I'll expand on it a little. What are your favourite bands? I'm sure that your preferred genres will then come through.

My favourite musical style is chillout / trance. It ranges from such groups as Massive Attack, to the likes of Moby, to the kind of trance created by William Orbit and Hybrid. Rock is another favourite of mine; I'm fond of the Eighties kind of thrash metal that was perfected by:

Metallica
Slayer
Anthrax
Megadeth
Exodus
Testament

What about you?

Gogol Bordello - Revolutionary Gypsy punk. Best live band i've ever seen.
Gorillaz - Alternative. Blur meets hiphop
Pavlov's Dog - Prog rock at it's best. One of the bands that should've made it but didn't
Radiohead - Self explanatory. Simply the best band since Pink Floyd
Sex Pistols - Defined an entire generation.

Rush - good ol' Canadian band
Daft Punk - electronic/techno
The Chemical Brothers - weird electronic/techno :p
ELO - Progressive Rock Band
Justice - electronic/techno
And some more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Nice selection BH. I got into Pavlov's Dog through Rush - The lead singer's of both bands have a similar pitch.

I may have to go back and listen to "Exit... Stage Left" again.

That's the only complete album of Rush I have, other than their best-of albums :)

The Chemical Brothers is a very good choice there. I'm quite fond of wierd / bizarre music that doesn't go over the top. Intrigues you to listen further.

More opinions please! :p

Like, Jazz-Rock Fusion? Or some techno BS?

If it's the former, I'm a big fan of Bill Chase, BST, Chicago, Steely Dan, and the gang.
