I heard a report the other day (and sorry I don't have the link as it was on TV) that said that basically a lot of recycling takes more resources to recycle the products then it does not to. This surprised me a bit. Now I realize that it's probably different resources. For instance, it takes power to recycle paper, but it does save more trees from being cut down in great numbers, raising our CO2 levels.
The other thing that bothers me about recycling is why I am charged to do it. The city makes the money off all the stuff they pick up and sell to the recycler place and yet I'm paying for them to do it, besides actually doing the work for them. You'd think if they cared so much about the environment, they wouldn't charge to encourage one to do it.
