Well now, here's a nation that is surely a ray of hope for all nations aspiring to become democratic, surely an example to follow...
Forgive the sarcasm, if you will. Here's a country torn asunder by its democratic election. Too close, both sides tried to rig it. But what is the nature of the conflict? What caused the tension in the first place?
The answer is something more foolish than around 95% of the "justifications" for killing people heedlessly; The justifications we've seen for genocide, whether you choose to call it that or not.
The answer is that they are simply from different ancestral tribes. Yes, they had different ancestors, and now they must die because of it. That's a great reason is it not? It almost tops religious beliefs, but at least there God told them to do it. At least there it was delusions, insanities, schizophrenia perhaps. What's the excuse here? Living 1000, 4000 years in the past? Choosing ignorance, stupidity beyond measure? Forsaking any compassion, blinding themselves to truth, over such a small difference.
In truth it's the same as the religious wars, or the ancient wars betweens Greeks and Persians perhaps, or between any two nations. They find excuses, and they exterminate, because they desire power, or can't accept that they are wrong. When is this going to stop? Will humanity ever learn from its mistakes? We in the west still commit such follies, although we hide them better, especially when our TV's can take our minds off of it.
Perhaps Kenya was better off under European rule, as most of Africa was. They weren't ready for independence it seems. They can't think yet, they can't use the intelligence that some would say God endowed them with. It's their fault, and ours as well. We allow such things to happen, in our apathy. We could very well fix the world, oh yes. We could spread a better way of life perhaps. Not our current one, no. We tried that, and it failed, because our current one too is flawed. No, we must fix our own first, and perhaps then they might follow. We must learn to use our brains first, and perhaps they might follow the example.
Until then, any hope, is a fool's hope.
