Hi, may be you know from a previous thread that I live in Cairo [which is one of the most polluted cities in the world if not the most]

In my city there is always some black or gray clouds above us .. there is hardly any place that is not polluted by something .. [air, water, visual, .. etc]

For me I can't see the sky pure and free of pollution, How about you ?

Like any city in the world, we have our environmental issues. However, my city is becoming slightly ridiculous. We have only a population of approximately 1 million and we have a city larger than New York City! Do you see I problem with that? I sure do!
Being so spread out, we don't have too much pollution and smog, however, urban sprawl is my biggest concern for my city.

I live in a particular area of the UK that is heavily polluted with traffic. It comes from a long background of living in a rural area, and with one of the lowest amounts of emissions in the country. Cairo is a wonderful place; I've been twice now.

My more odd impression of Cairo isn't the pyramids, nor the Nile, nor the great amount of history generally sorrounding the city; it's the fact that the rain there was searing hot. I'm not sure if this was due to global warming, but it was a strange feeling to have to cover up to not get your arms and legs burnt.

Acid rain, perhaps?

I don't think it was acid rain, could possibly have been.

That happens to be Calgary, right?
That is my habitat also (but not my natural one).

I suspected you did, considering I was directed here by Mr. Poirier, and the debates had only begun.

Here in Florida, the air isn't too bad in at least some cities and the towns are usually pretty free of pollution. Around here there is very little to block the sky (except maybe fog in the morning). Course we are some distance from any big cities like Miami or Jacksonville.

My only complaint about my city is how little I can see the stars at night... :(

Out in the country I can see two, three times as many.

pollution is really taking over the world, i belong to a developing country, where pollution level are not such high that sky is not clearly visible, but yes the time would come when we won't see sky clearly anywhere in world if the polluting rate is not controlled.....
